- This is caused by the thermocouple being unplugged, a broken connection in the thermocouple, or a broken connection inside the Caddis device.
- If the thermocouple can be disassembled and rewired (is not pre-made with a molded connector from the manufacturer), check to make sure that the thermocouple wires inside the connector are not broken or disconnected, and are connected to the correct blade/pin.
- If available, plug the thermocouple into a thermocouple measurement device, or a digital multi-meter that supports thermocouples. However, be sure that the measurement device is set up to read a K-type thermocouple, as that is what is supported by the Caddis device.
- Once the thermocouple itself checks out, the Input Status tab on the device configuration page can be consulted to see what the Caddis device sees as the temperature reading. Ensure that the thermocouple is plugged in and check whether the reading on the Input Status tab is reading room temperature (if the thermocouple probe is exposed to ambient air).
- If the thermocouple reading is still over 3,000 degrees or is not reading at all, it is possible that the connection is broken between the thermocouple connector on the Caddis device and the internal circuit board. LCM2M support should be contacted to discuss device repair or replacement.
